Back from a well-needed mini-vacation

Well...I can definitely say it was great to get away for a few days this week. We were pleasantly surprised by the beaches on Tybee Island. I had never went there, so I was not sure what to expect. I had found a time-share villa we could stay at for a few days on the net, but I was strictly going by their website. It was great! We were directly in front of the pier and pavillion. We could not have asked for a better place. It was definitely the hot spot on the beach!

We went to the beach and then the pool on Thursday afternoon. We ate in the villa for supper and then got ready for our full day on the beach on Friday. I got up early, watched the sunrise (always relaxing and rejuvenating for me to watch God bring in a new day). After the rest of the crew got up, we cooked a full breakfast and headed for the beach. We had a great day.

Yesterday, we got ready to check out by 10, turned in our keys but did not leave. We headed back to the beach for a few more hours of fun in the sun. We left the beach at lunch, went shopping in a few stores and got some lunch at Bernie's. The lunch was great! After that, we were ready to head home...well I could have stayed for a week, but we did not have anywhere to stay...so we had to go back to Cochran :)

We got back late yesterday afternoon but did not stop going. After we got back, Briteigh, Austin and I took Jamie, Jake, and Mrs. Dianne to see Shrek 3. Eric had to use Mrs. Dianne's car to take Amy back to the hospital. She started chemo last week, and made it a week without getting sick, but now she is dehydrated. Please continue to keep Amy (& Eric) in your prayers. The Dr decided to keep her overnight, so we are not sure when she will come back home.

Saturday morning

Well...we are having a lazy, yet busy Saturday morning. We are cleaning house and washing clothes. OH what fun.....

Britleigh got back from 4-H camp yesterday at noon. She had a blast at Rock Eagle with her friends. She was tired when we picked her up. I am sure they were non-stop all week long.

After lunch on Friday, we decided to go get a pool. We had one for three years and had decided not to get one this year....but changed our minds. The kids will really enjoy it for the rest of the summer. We still have several more weeks to enjoy it before school starts back. We are going to get the salt system that goes with it though. It will be alot better than chlorine and less hassle to keep up. I'll post some pictures later of us playing in it.

We are going to the beach for three days next week. We just told the kids yesterday. They were very excited. This is the first year in seven we have not gone for a week. Since my masters classes are so demanding, we decided not to go for a week. Next week is a slow week as we end the first mini-semester so I will have less work to do. I am going to get it all done before we leave on Thursday. Then I will be able to relax and enjoy the beach, sand and sun with the rest of my family.

Ok, well the house work is calling my name...and the maid fairy has not come to do it for me :)

This past weekend we all went to Gran & Papa's house for a three-day visit. It was nice to get away and visit with them. On Friday night, we got a much needed rainstorm. There was thunder too, but we enjoyed the rain. The farm truly needs all the help it can get. Daddy is just now getting to plant cotton, since it rained last week. They are behind schedule, but at least it is raining some now, so they will be able to plant. Continue to pray for rain so the crops will grow.

On Saturday night, we pulled out the old home movies, and watched movies of me when I was two and three years old. Britleigh and Austin really enjoyed seeing me at that age, and it was a nice trip down memory lane for me.
As we watched the movies, I recorded them on my camera to get a movie clip. We are going to convert it to DVD, so I our memories will be able to be viewed when ever we want. We only watched 15 movies, and have 53 more to go....so needless to say we will have to plan another weekend or two just to watch movies. It is not a job though, I really enjoyed it.

This week, Britleigh is at 4-H camp at Rock Eagle. She left on Monday, and will be back on Friday. She went last year and had a great time. As a cloverleaf, the sixth graders are the "older" kids, so they get to do really cool things. Britleigh was looking forward to go. I am sure she is having a good time.

Austin is relaxing a bit and watching plenty of Star Wars movies. I am working on my Walden classes. It seems like I am writing a paper a day inbetween two classes, but it is not that bad. This class session ends June 24h, but the next one starts the 25th. No rest for the Walden weary. Just six more months....I have to keep reminding myself :)

More later...

Britleigh is twelve!!

Happy Birthday Britleigh!
I can hardly believe my sweet little girl is twelve years old today!
She is getting so old (and it makes me feel older!)
To begin the birthday celebration, we went to the
summer film fest in Warner Robins.
We saw "A Night in the Museum". It is a really good movie.
Afterwards, we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch.
Tonight, we are going to LaCabana.
She will have a spend the night party in a couple of weeks
with her friends for her annual fashion show.
The girls are always so silly when they get together.

TAPP graduate!!

I am pleased to say I am now a TAPP graduate! Mrs. Donna from RESA called today and told me my two-year portfolio has meet the requirements and she is filling the paper work for my renewable teaching certification. YEAH!!!
and I will say it again... YEAH!!!

It has been a very busy two years and I am glad I have completed this chapter in my life. Now....I have to look forward to December. I will graduate with my Masters in Elementary Reading and Literacy at the end of December.

Then, what will I do with the "extra" time on my hand. I am sure I will find something to do!

Until later

Britleigh's dance recital

Britleigh's dance recital was a BIG hit! She had a great time! Fancy Dancer is a great dance company. Here are some pictures from the night.

Britleigh is on top of the boxes in the center. This jazz song is "Pink".
